Position Breakdown: Linebackers

SHELBYVILLE, KY—

We’ve all heard the saying, “Offense gets you glory but defense wins you championships” or some variation of that so let’s take a look at a position group that could be and should be a major cog in the 2013 Louisville Cardinals quest for another Big East Championship and possibly their first BCS National Championship. When you first look at the linebackers you notice that nearly everybody from the 2012 Sugar Bowl…

Position Breakdown: Kickers

SHELBYVILLE, KY—

In my first of seven post spring position breakdowns I shed some much deserved light on a group of guys that usually don’t get much fan-fare or accolades. That’s right I’m referring to the kickers. The Louisville Cardinals have had some great kickers in their history that have accomplished some great feats ranging from earning a Super Bowl ring and being selected to multiple Pro Bowls to tying the record for the longest field goal in NFL history. Art “Artomatic”…

Position Breakdown: Secondary

SHELBYVILLE, KY—

For my second installment of the positional breakdowns I am covering the secondary which is coached by Tommy Restivo who is in his fourth season at Louisville. Restivo’s first two seasons 2010 and 2011 he served as a graduate assistant before Strong gave him a promotion to the secondary coach last year in 2012. Prior to coming to “The Ville” he was a graduate assistant at Marshall (2007-08) and Florida (2008-09). In his…

SHELBYVILLE, KY—

Hog molly, big ugly and blocking dummies are just a few of the names for my third positional breakdown group. The offensive line is front and center for today’s breakdown and they will be a major factor in the success and or failure of the 2013 Louisville Cardinals.…

Louisville stinks

Who flushed the toilet and put Louisville in the bowl? Was it Siva who was a zero?  Was it Chane who can't score in double figures?  Was it Pitino who needs to try coaching some junior collage?

Now before you all get on me, I am 82 yearrs old a 1953 grad a former president of the Tampa Bay Alumni Club and I'mk tired of saying next year.  I may not be here next year.

Florida's Sensational Secondary Is Scary...Good!

Florida's Sensational Secondary Is Scary...Good!

SHELBYVILLE, KY—

In this look into the ultra-talented Florida Gators, we will discuss the huge uphill battle facing the Louisville Cardinal offense, mainly the receivers as they have to try and beat the #1 passing efficiency defense in the FBS. The defensive secondary is a big reason that on the year, no team has scored more than 26 points and that took the Florida State Seminoles doing it in…

Terrence Ross and Richard Benjamin Named MVP's

Just wanted to touch quickly on two of the Louisville Cardinal's 2013 commitments, Terrence Ross and Richard Benjamin. The game was played on a very slick and sloppy field in Sebring Florida and the South beat the North 25-14. You can read a little about the game …

The Day I Kicked Cal Ripken,Jr's Butt

In the early summer of 1965 I had my first real taste of defeat. Running home, crying like the eight year old I was, after just having been cut from the local Little League team tryouts. I was good enough to play the sandlot games with the other boys near my age, so why did that old man think I wasn't good enough for his team? This was also the first time I felt a desire to improve physically.

That next summer the tryouts were a little different. I had actually improved my draft…
