UofL Football: Better...but BCS caliber? Thank you BE tie in, must be the $$$$$
So here's the deal.
I applaud Charlie Strong and his effort to revitalize a deflated and demoralized UofL Football Program and fan base. He (CS) seems to be a great guy and fantastic leader. Winning is much more fun than losing I will agree.....But the questions remain, and they will eventually have to be addressed by the BCS committee:
Currently UofL is ranked 9 in the RPI with a SOS of 207. Understanding how RPI is calculated I can understand the 9 ranking. But is UofL a paper tiger? UofL's competition is a combined 8-28 for the season. Stands to reason with a schedule that doesn't even qualify as D2, UofL will be out of their league in a BCS Bowl.
As of today, UofL's claim to fame is a squeaker win over UC which is currently ranked 30 in the RPI, with 7 of their wins coming against teams that are not even in the top 50.
It is also telling that UofL on has 1 game left on their schedule with a team ranked higher than 50 (Rutgers currently 19) and RPI has them calculated to lose that game. I am wondering why Louisville, with a higher rank is projected to lose a game against a lesser opponent?
Without the tie in, where would UofL end up post season?

Excellent point about UofL's youth Keith. This schedule (yes it's weak, but not to a fault of UofL) is one that can gain confidence for the young roster as they improve. Hopefully TJ and CCS can get Michigan as the opener next season and have BE newcomers Boise St. and SDSU on the slate as well. SOS and RPI will be two of the main deciding factors to get into the new four team playoff next season.

Blue creeker.....let's let this season play out and the Big East work on the contract first. ESPN disrepects the Big East because they wouldn't accept a wek contract. With Louisville and Rutgers and possiblt Cincy ranked at the end of the year, The Big East has to get some respect. The Big 10 will only have one team ranked after this weekend. The ACC? We will see if U of L is "out of their league" when we play Florida State. I think we blow them out. I actually wish we were going to the Sugar Bowl to play a SEC team so we can measure where we stand. Tony...Michigan would be in 2014 not next year.

Where would they end up without the bowl tie in?What kind of stupid question is that.Where did uk go those three years because of the SEC's bowl tie ins?Most if not all conferences have bowl tie in's, but if you are trying to imply that they would not get an at large bid somewhere if it was not for the Big East is stupid.After 2014 the bowls will not matter anyway because we will have a four team playoff and if it is done right the top four undefeated will play each other to determine the national champion.Actually the four (undeafeated)conference champions should be put into the playoff system to see who should be the national champion.

Let's consider this:
If you Blue, supported a school that exceled in more than one sport (basketball), we might have been spared your pointless, convoluted manifesto regarding the only D1 nationally ranked NCAA football team this commonwealth has to offer.
Instead of trying to discredit THE FIGHTING CARDINALS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF LOUISVILLE, do something productive, like go read a good book.

No but I did get a chuckle watching Cal sweat balls while his kitty's blew a 15 pt lead playing Maryland.
If it weren't for those 23 fouls the refs down in Rape Arena hit those Maryland players with, UK would have lost at home boyeeezzzeee!
