Rick Pitino, this week promoting his new “One-Day Contract” book, went on CBS Boston radio show Toucher and Rich on Thursday morning for quite possibly the University of Louisville coach’s shortest interview ever.
Per CBS Boston, Pitino discussion with host Fred Toucher went like this:
We are joined by Rick Pitino, former coach of the Celtics, current coach of the Louisville Cardinals who won the national championship. Rick Pitino, hello!
You stink. You ruined the Celtics.
And then Toucher hung up on the Hall of Fame coach — the 2013 NCAA national champion — more than a decade after he left the Boston Celtics following an unsuccessful tenure there.
Didn’t his mother teach this clown manners? Or is radio host who hung up on Rick Pitino that desperate for ratings?” cjky.it/1f2ILXQ
The first few responses were predictable, and depressing. Two people justified Toucher’s behavior because of Pitino’s extramarital scandal. Two people justified Toucher’s behavior based on his show’s ratings. And one genius, presumably a Harvard professor, suggested that I was “righting” an opinion piece, to get more people to read my article.
On some level, of course, he was right. (Or is it write?) When you are paid to express opinion, it’s important to have something interesting to say. But if you can’t say it without screaming, oversimplification or sucker-punching your subjects, you’re not adding much insight.
Moreover, you’re being inexcusably rude.
You get bitch slapped on here seems everyday!!!!
