Permalink Reply by Bluecreeker on November 28, 2012 at 11:28am First of all, yes I think he can break .500 in the SEC eventually. If Howard Schnellenberger can transform a small Metro Community College in to a respectable Football program....then I know it can be done at UK.
Will Barnyard be looking for anothe FB coach in 3 years....NO.
If Stoops doesn't work out Barnyard will be looking for a job himself.
Believe that you need to find new sources of information!

Where do you get this stuff? UofL was a University, Private University long before UK became the Land Grant University it was at it's inception and remains to date. If you would like me to explain "Land Grant University" to you, I will.

Permalink Reply by GO Yankees on November 28, 2012 at 7:13pm Land Grant University,
A land-grant college or university is an institution that has been designated by its state legislature or Congress to receive the benefits of the Morrill Acts of 1862 and 1890. The original mission of these institutions, as set forth in the first Morrill Act, was to teach agriculture, military tactics, and the mechanical arts as well as classical studies so that members of the working classes could obtain a liberal, practical education.
So essentially, UK is a post secondary vocational school, little bro.
Furthermore,
The racists in Lexington didn't want blacks going to UK when it was established. So they pressured legislators in Frankfort to pass laws segregating state schools. This adversely affected Berea College which historically enrolled students regardless of ethnic background. However, to receive this Land Grant from the Fed. Govt., access could not be denied to minority students. Thus, Kentucky State University was also established via the Land Grant under the Morrill Acts.

Permalink Reply by Bluecreeker on November 29, 2012 at 8:59am Well gee thank you there Mr. Science......Please tell us more.
University of Louisville: Metropolitan Research University (see commuter school)
Now, insofar as your speak of racism that apparently existed in Lexington in the 1800's, let's take a look shall we?:
Isn't this around the same time (mid 1800's) folks in Louisville decided to drag out into the streets, and murder oh...a couple dozen Irish immigrants because they feared these poor immigrants were going to ruin the American way of life? Could this be known in American History as Bloody Monday.......I don't know there Mr. Science but you are free to Google it. Funny this group was known as the "know nothings"......how ironic. Racism of the MOST EXTREME type has, and still does exist right here in good old Louisville so please quit casting the stone.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloody_Monday
Or how about let's talk about the Title IX greivance brought against UofL in 1980 for failure to treat women and more importantly women sports programs within accordance to Federal frigging law? Now were not talking 1800's here.....we're talking 1980. See quoted from the provided link:
"As a member of both the women’s volleyball and basketball teams during 1973-76, the discrepancies were unfathomable. My very courageous coach Rebecca Hudson, lost her job because she filed a Title IX grievance against the University. That was the regime before Tom Jurich, when the only sport that mattered was Men’s basketball. Tom did a great job upgrading all facilities and valuing all sports. Too bad for the women, who worked hard and received little monetary or any recognition for their efforts. There are many women who appreciate you and hopefully the women who are presently playing, appreciate what they now have."
I know this story well, as the woman referenced in the writing is none other than my Aunt, the Woman's AD, who's name has been stripped from every historical document at UofL.
The woman's Basketball Coach, and Assistant AD....gone because she forced UofL to comply with Federal Law....what a shame....so if you would like we can debate Kentucky History, University Funding, or any other matter you would like.
So enjoy your women's Basketball program, but understand UofL had to be FORCED to treat the program with equality.......forced.

One more Mr.Science....Please explain to everybody the difference in funding sports programs/facilities between UofL and UK (see Commonwealth) and why the upgrade of Sports Facilities at UK have to be approved by the idiots in the Kentucky Legislature which is a task not worthy of partaking in this economic climate?
While I know UofL is really no longer considered a "commuter school" it's still fun to rile you guys up with the comment.
Oh yea......Thank for schooling the Buttcraker
